Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

By October 2, 2025No Comments2 min read

Over the past several weeks, Morning Gathering at St. Thomas’s Day School has come alive with the vibrant sounds, sights, and stories of Hispanic culture. Our community has transformed this daily ritual into a dynamic celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month—an opportunity for students, parents, and faculty to come together in recognition of the profound influence of Hispanic and Latin American cultures.

Observed nationally from September 15 to October 15, Hispanic Heritage Month is more than a date on the calendar—it is a time to honor the histories, contributions, and rich cultural traditions from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.

Here at St. Thomas’s, our celebrations have taken many forms: parents have generously shared their personal stories and cultural heritage; faculty have led explorations in the arts and humanities; and students have proudly displayed artwork inspired by iconic Hispanic artists.

But what’s most meaningful is the sense of connection that has grown in our school community. We are not just acknowledging Hispanic Heritage—we are learning to see the world through each other’s eyes. We are celebrating identity, belonging, and the value of every voice in our community.

Hispanic Heritage Month at St. Thomas’s is a joyful reminder that education extends far beyond the classroom. It lives in the stories we tell, the music we share, and the respect we cultivate for one another’s lived experiences. As the celebration continues, so does our commitment to honoring and embracing the beautiful mosaic of cultures that make our school—and our world—so richly diverse.
