St. Thomas’s is proud to share that Mrs. Conway, First Grade Head Teacher, and Mr. Venter, Science Teacher, will be featured presenters at the National Place-Based Education Conference hosted by Eastern Michigan University.
Mrs. Conway will present “One Nest, Many Lessons: Integrating Curriculum Through Local Exploration,” and Mr. Venter will present “Rocks, Rivers, and Parks: Civic Engagement and Interdisciplinary Learning.”
The National Place-Based Education Conference brings together educators and leaders dedicated to connecting learning with local environments and communities. Its mission is to grow and support the place-based education community, strengthen the field through shared insights and best practices, and inspire an educational future rooted in place and purpose.
Mrs. Conway introduced the Eagle Project to St. Thomas’s in 2023 and continues to share the project with her First Grade class and Mr. Venter spearheaded our Outdoor Education Program in Fall 2023. At St. Thomas’s, we believe learning truly comes alive when the world becomes your classroom. Mrs. Conway and Mr. Venter exemplify this philosophy in their teaching, and we wish them the very best as they share their work on the national stage.
