Peter Greco has turned a passion into a lucrative career. Currently employed by Wilson Elser, one of the biggest insurance defense law firms in the country, Peter practices aviation law handling complex litigation issues. A 2003 graduate of St. Thomas’s, Peter originally went to college at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in hopes of becoming an airline pilot. However, at the time, the qualifications, rules, and salaries involved with being an airline pilot started to change and Peter decided to pivot toward airport operations.
With a minor in flying and a major in airport operations, he began a career in airfield operations at several commercial service airports, including Orlando International Airport (MCO), where he was responsible for ensuring the safety, security and regulatory compliance of one of the nation’s largest airports and became one of the youngest employees to hold this position. This led Peter to law school at George Mason University where he dedicated himself to aviation law and held internships with both the FAA and NTSB.
Peter’s unique background and the fact that he is a licensed pilot now gives him an edge in his current position defending aviation clients. This allows him to be strategic and technical, and while other lawyers may need to use expert witnesses, Peter already has the expertise.
While Peter acknowledges his time at St. Thomas’s academically prepared him for his future, he does remark that his fondest memories revolve around the fun and special events that made coming to school each day a delight. It is a true testament to the fact that while St. Thomas’s provides a sound foundational education, it is done while preserving childhood and having fun!
