There’s something truly special about the connections formed when older students work with younger ones. In the St. Thomas’s Buddies Program, these relationships become a meaningful part of life at our school—where older students grow into compassionate leaders, and younger students gain confidence, support, and a sense of belonging. These weekly interactions begin as simple introductions and “getting to know you” moments, but over time, they blossom into genuine friendships. Older students grow as leaders, learning to guide with kindness, patience, and empathy.
The small class sizes at St. Thomas’s contributes to the success of the Buddies Program. Students are more likely to collaborate, support one another, and build lasting friendships because they know one another. Every voice matters, and every success is celebrated, whether it’s in a board game, reading circle, or end of year field trip.
