Dear St. Thomas’s Day School Families,
Today marks the beginning of a new journey in the life of a St. Thomas’s Day School student. No one knows precisely what the news in the coming days and weeks will bring with regards to the Coronavirus or its impact on our lives, on our school, or on our economy. We do know, however, that we will be there to help your child navigate the path ahead and will do everything in our power to take care of ourselves and each other.
Despite uncertain times, St. Thomas’s remains true to the ethos of the school and will continue to develop kind, compassionate global citizens who feel compelled to make this world a better place. We feel confident that our students, whether they have been walking through the doors of our school building for six months or six years, have the tools to pursue their studies through remote learning with excitement and have an altruistic understanding that this is best for our country at this time. But, we assure you they are not alone, and St. Thomas’s is wholeheartedly committed to serving your child/children and your family.
We are committed to the following Core Principles:
Excellence: We promise to deliver an outstanding remote learning experience by holding each other accountable to do things to the best of our abilities, and by upholding the principles set forth in our mission.
Service: We promise to serve the children and families in our school community, and to support the needs of our faculty and staff.
Inspiration: We promise to inspire and draw out the best in each other – Keep sharing, Keep smiling, and Keep celebrating!
Perseverance: We promise to persevere through these difficult circumstances and will make all decisions to benefit our students, faculty, staff, community and world.
Positivity: We promise to celebrate the success of our students and their teachers through on-going communication. Our children’s’ Happy Minds, Open Hearts and Brave ideas will shine even more brightly.
Ethics: We will not compromise our ethical standards. We will hold each other accountable and maintain our moral principles.
Trust: We will work to ensure that our actions are guided by the best interests of those we serve. We seek to build trust with all community members through transparent, honest communication.
I look forward to the days when we are once again together – singing, smiling and learning within the walls of our school. I look forward to hearing the laughter and voices of our children playing on the playgrounds. But until then, let’s virtually wrap our arms around each other and work together to provide a dynamic remote learning experience for our students as they continue to learn and grow together.
Stay safe,
Gina
